October 7, 2024

We are pleased to announce the appointment of leading litigation and white collar specialist Ian Hargreaves, who joins from Covington & Burling as Partner, bolstering the firm’s expertise in handling large and complex fraud cases and investigations.

Former EMEA Co-Head of Covington’s White-Collar Defence and EMEA Co-Head of Commercial Litigation, Ian is widely recognised for his expertise in a wide range of areas including asset tracing and recovery, bribery and corruption, money laundering, corporate and commercial governance, risk management, commercial disputes and cybercrime.  He has been involved in many leading cases before the English Courts and has acted for numerous corporate and UHNWI clients in criminal or regulatory matters – dealing with cases or investigations involving the SFO, U.S. DoJ,  the NCA, the City and Metropolitan police forces, the FCA and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority.

Ian has led some of the largest civil fraud cases involving worldwide freezing injunctions, search and seizure orders, complex disclosure orders, repatriation orders, delivery up orders, oral examinations, fraud-exception privilege applications and insolvency related relief proceedings. He is ranked with Chambers for his asset tracing capabilities, and has also been involved in judicial review applications (recently involving the Cabinet Office), cyber-ransom cases involving the NCA and FBI regarding sensitive encrypted material, and extradition matters.

Ian has carried out investigations for large multinational companies in China, Nigeria, Ghana, Russia, India and South Africa and has significant legal and forensic contacts across Continental Europe and the U.S.

Commenting on his appointment, Ian said: “Since being established only a few years ago, Quillon Law has emerged as an industry leader in the London litigation market and I am delighted to be joining the partnership. I look forward to working with  the team to advise clients in navigating a wide range of legal challenges and disputes.”

Partner Mark Hastings commented: “Having worked alongside Ian at a previous firm, I have seen first-hand his tenacity as a litigator. His strategic and commercial approach is a natural fit with our ethos at Quillon Law, and we are delighted to welcome him to the partnership.

“As we continue to grow our firm and strengthen our position in the market, Ian’s wealth of expertise and experience will further strengthen and enhance our offering for clients globally.”

Ian’s appointment reflects the continuing growth of Quillon Law, taking the firm’s partner count to six.
