Neil Dooley joins Quillon Law as Partner

November 3, 2025

We are pleased to announce the appointment of leading fraud and investigations specialist Neil Dooley, who joins as Partner from Steptoe.

Building on the appointment of Partner Ian Hargreaves last year, Neil’s appointment reflects Quillon Law’s strategic growth in civil fraud litigation and investigations and reinforces the firm’s expertise in handling large-scale, cross-border fraud litigation, commercial disputes, and white-collar investigations.

A specialist in complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation, particularly involving Eastern Europe and the CIS region Neil represents clients across the financial services, insurance, pharmaceutical, and property sectors, and is renowned for his strategic approach to fraud cases – obtaining freezing orders, tracing assets, and delivering practical commercial solutions for clients.

Neil’s practice spans commercial litigation, international arbitration, white-collar defence, WTO disputes, independent and internal investigations, and asset recovery. He frequently works alongside foreign lawyers and law enforcement agencies around the world to coordinate proceedings and investigations.

Highlights of Neil’s work include:

  • Securing a US$600 million arbitration award for a bank defrauded in a major transaction involving companies controlled by the Mints family (LCIA, 2021).
  • Representing National Bank Trust in the leading sanctions case, NBT v Mints.
  • Representing the National Bank of Moldova in connection with a US$1 billion banking fraud.
  • Obtaining US$60 million LCIA awards for a Ukrainian-owned company in a contractual dispute with a Nigerian oil and gas business.
  • Representing National Bank Trust, which required a US$1 billion bailout following a major fraud, and securing a US$900 million judgment with worldwide freezing orders against the bank’s former owners.
  • Acting for an English company defrauded of US$150 million, securing judgment following a 46-day trial and leading worldwide enforcement efforts across Switzerland, Russia, Spain, Latvia, Israel and Georgia.
  • Acting for Otkritie Capital in a US$100 million claim against Threadneedle Asset Management, arising from fraud by a dishonest fund manager.

Commenting on his appointment, Neil Dooley said: “Over the past few years, Quillon Law has established itself as one of London’s most dynamic litigation boutiques and carved out a strong presence in the sector. I am thrilled to be joining the partnership and look forward to contributing to the firm’s reputation for delivering results in complex and high-profile commercial disputes.”

Partner Mark Hastings commented: “Neil is an exceptional litigator with an outstanding record in complex fraud and international disputes. His arrival underlines our commitment to offering clients world-class expertise and strategic insight across the full spectrum of commercial and white-collar matters.”

Neil’s appointment reflects the continued expansion of Quillon Law’s disputes and investigations offering and takes the firm’s partner count to seven.
